Nothing against Comerica Park it's a beautiful Stadium but I miss Tiger Stadium at the corner of Michigan And Trumbull
The Tigers ??
The exit velocity on that thing was easily 120 mph
I remember watching this when I was 6 and was crying and my older brother laughing at me.
What was that song that played before they went on?
Jack Buck I don't believe what I just Saw
A few observations: 1) He had no business walking Mike Davis; 2) Hassey almost picked him off. 3) Look how thin McGuire is...how ALL of them are. 4) The great Jack Buck, with one of the greatest calls ever.
I forgot how good Bluejays we're. Batting and pitching very strong.
Growing up in Toledo we used to listen to Ernie on the car radio. We was one of the all time Greats.
Buck's call was was with Bill White.
And now Dickerson is approaching 25 years. Tiger fans have been blessed with 2 great radio personalities. Shame they couldn’t have more winning seasons. Ownership sadly has been lacking .
Gibson wasn't a DB at MSU. He was a WR. And the "power of the pyramid" promo Buck read after Gibson's HR totally ruined the call.
Shanahan jumped Corbet! That is why Crawford was so hot! Crow standing up for his players
I don’t believe I ever heard that call. Always thought we just had Vin Scully’s play by play. Even as a Giants fan I appreciate the magnitude of all the people involved.
I watched this exact moment live in preschool at 4 years old, down to eavesdropping in the room hearing a lady talk about people jumping out windows before I walked in. I asked to use the bathroom and that’s when I saw this on TV; all the teachers put their hands over their mouths at the same time and I had like a 2 second delay before I did the same because I had no idea what was going on. I just assumed my teachers were playing hooky from teaching us and watching a scary movie that my parents probably didn’t want me to see.
I watched Morris' no-no from the hospital as I was recuperating from broken ribs, back, and bruised lung from getting thrown out of a rolling car the day before the season opened.
just back for another listen. both California teams and this was only the first series game. (I'm from LA) seriously. 9th inning, 3 and 2. this one at-bat is what baseball is all about.
No no the game was suppose to be extended and the cowgirls lost fair and square hahhahahahahaha *BOOMER SOONER*
Thank you Mel Didier. He was the scout who said as sure I'm standing here, with a 3-2 count, Eckerskley will throw a backdoor slider to a left-handed batter. That's why Gibson called time with a 3-2 count. It dawned on him what Didier said.
There were 55,000 fans in the ground. 36 years on the number of people who claim to have been there is about 550,000.
They say that when you play hurt, you play better..... you are more focused.
I don’t believe what I just saw either. It’s a shame that Detroit Tiger ownership was too 🐷 headed to keep Gibson here in Detroit. But it’s almost worth losing him to be able to witness what he did here. As both a Tiger fan, and a baseball fan, to me Gibby is responsible for my most exciting memories in sport. Thanks, Gibby! 🐯 ⚾️ P. S. To Dodger fans: You’re Welcome!
Ernie deserved better. Our Michigan Voice. Hes SUMMER AND BASEBALL.
Tom Monahan was an absolute fool. Not a Tiger Fan. A publicity hound. I have never had a Dominos Pizza since. Preferred Little Caesars.
Buck’s I don’t believe sticks with me.
Back when hockey was good
Roy Hobbs
Lived in los angeles many years. Always brings a tear to my eyes
He should have been fired. Too old
An absolute annoying man who didn’t know when to leave. The tigers had to fire him because he was falling asleep in the announcers booth. A boring man who over stayed his welcome
Give Bill White some credit for the call as well, a great Yankees announcer who was working for the World Series that year for Dodgers radio station
Bo was a prick. I never liked him.
Who else saw the building core standing?
1:20 the inner steel column gets exposed shortly thereafter it turns into dust.
That’s directed free energy weapons at play by the US Government, the steel went through molecular disassociation and disintegrated into dust
@@All_Amin Bingo.
I love jack buck!!!!!
I am a lifelong resident of Windsor, Ontario which is just across the border from Detroit. I was only 12 years old in 1984 but because my dad was and is such a huge Tiger's fan, I remember the year so well. It was one of the highlights of my childhood years and it was a lot of fun even in here in Canada!
You can see the core standing
Still think Drysdale made best call.
Blue Jays blew it but without Fernandez or Whitt it was a perfect storm for failure at the end.
Not only did they lose this series but lost Fernandez and Whitt to injury for the return series in Detroit. Quite a collapse for sure.
His only AB of the WS that all but clinched the championship. This was the stuff of legends to put it lightly. Once of the clutch playoff performers of all-time. Gibby was the heart and soul of the 84 Tigers WS team too. In an eerily simular situation, against a HOF pitcher (Goose Gossage) Gibby took Goose deep to put the 84 WS on ice for the Motor City Bengals.
Ernie, George Kell, Ray Lane were the best for a Detroit kid.
And the Tigers dumped Kirk Gibson that winter 😂😂😢
If the Tigers had not dumped Howard Johnson, they would have won it all in 1987.
League was not that bad. As a player that wasn’t even close to making it. That hurts
You can see the way how half way through the collapse slows down and dust and smoke protrude out, that’s walls and other debris slowing down
Oh hohoho, brain damage, oh hohoho, criminal battery felony, oh hohoho.
I had forgotten that he did this for the Dodgers. In my memory he was still a Tiger. Probably because I deeply dislike the Dodgers ( I would say hate, but hey, it’s just a ball game).
#1 Vin Scully, #2 Don Drysdale on KABC, #3 Jack Buck
